The League of Minnesota Cities 保险信托 (LMCIT) is sponsoring a Department of Public Safety (DPS)-approved 同伴支持 Training that meets the DPS 30-hour requirement for anyone wanting to become a public safety peer to peer counselor in Minnesota. This training will consist of two consecutive days of in-person training as well as online learning. In addition to the foundational concepts of being a peer support team member, attendees will also learn the basics of setting up and maintaining the team, how to conduct defusings at your agency, and options for clinical consultation for your team.

The Duluth training will be presented by Dr. Heather Rose-Carlson, a board-certified clinical psychologist who has worked with military, 在第一时间作出回应, and critical incidents for more than 20 years. The Brainerd and New Ulm trainings will be presented by Marie Ridgeway who specializes in working with law enforcement and 在第一时间作出回应 to provide mental health care, wellness programming, and consulting services.

Cybersecurity Essentials

What can go wrong, will. Learn how to keep your city running when faced with disaster in this workshop. Leverage sample templates and guidance from facilitators to assemble the necessary components and strategy for cybersecurity, 业务连续性, and IT incident planning.

TSO for Firefighters

Fighting fires is dangerous enough — but now training injuries are on the rise and account for a full 15% of all firefighter injuries. The Training Safety Officer (TSO) program can help by providing oversight and guidance to ensure that all trainees have a safe experience. 

From the TSO training, attendees will: 

• Understand their role and responsibilities of a Training Safety Officer and enhance their communication, 交互, 决策, 支持技能.
• Receive a framework to build upon in their individual fire departments to meet each department’s unique needs.
